Welcome to the Weather Observer, My name is Richard Foreman, webmaster and I enjoy posting and commenting on the weather. I am a father of three little girls and one little boy married for twelve years. My present job is a soldier in the United States Army. Being in the military and changing locations, I thought a weather blog would be the best thing and so far it’s worked out.I have been interested in the weather since the age of eight. That was the first time I saw a tornado and wanted to know more about it. Right after that, Hurricane Alicia hit Houston and impressed by the power and fury that mother nature could pack into a storm. While I was growing up in Houston we would have severe weather all the time and every time, I would look out the window for hours, just watching the storms.
My study of meteorology finally took off when we got our first computer and hooked up to the Internet. There is a wealth of information about charts, maps and other weather tools that will help a weather enthusiast learn more. I could not get enough information and am still learning today.
About five years ago, I started pursing storm chasing. It helped that we lived in Abilene, Texas at the time, because it’s right near the Texas/Oklahoma border and in the middle of tornado alley. I would head out when I could and try to get some photos or video of the tornadoes. Right now I don’t have that many photos or videos but I will post them when I get a chance. Since there is hardly any severe weather in Virginia, I have turned my attention back to forecasting the weather. On the site you will find a forecast discussion that is updated everyday except Sunday and a weekend outlook that is updated every Thursday. I will try and post information about the weather in the area and photos that are weather related.
